Ed Byrne has graduated from lank-haired observational comedy upstart to coiffured elder statesman of stand-up. While the Dubliner has a slew of television projects to keep him occupied he still finds time to entertain audiences, just one man and a microphone, armed with whimsical reflections on modern life.

It all started for the Irish comedian right here in Glasgow. He studied at Strathclyde University and was elected Entertainment Officer.

He promptly opened a comedy club and began performing in The Union. Further distractions from his course came when he started The Comedy Cellar night at The 13th Note, which led Byrne to perform at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, where he was nominated for a Perrier Comedy Award in 1998.

Since then of course he has toured extensively and became a household name through appearing as a regular panelist on Mock The Week.

Ed Byrne returns to Glasgow on Thursday 25th February at The Pavilion theatre with his new show Outside, Looking In.

Expect sharp punchlines and meandering musing on becoming a dad, social media and dating.
